Ingredients
- 2 large onions
- 1 330ml can of beer or lager
- 100ml red wine vinegar
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 1/2 tsps butter
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Peel and cut the onions into thick slices (slightly less than 1 cm). Double skewer the onion slices or use flat skewers.
- Make up a heat shield from foil to protect the skewers if necessary and cook the onions until slightly charred, turn and cook the otherside.
- Meanwhile in a pot, combine all the other ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes. When the onions are cooked, remove them from the barbecue and remove the skewers. Add the onions to the sauce. Simmer at a high heat, stirring regularly until the sauce is well reduced and has a thick, syrupy consistency. Serve hot.
