This is a spicy South African salad traditionally known as kachoomer, it is served with meat, chicken and fish.
- 1 large onion chopped
- 5 ml salt
- 500 ml hot water
- 2 large ripe tomatoes
- 2 chillies, chopped
- 10 ml sugar
- 30 ml white vinegar
- Sprinkle onion with salt. Pour hot water over it and leave to soak for 5 minutes then drain in a colander, squeezing out all excess moisture.
- Add all remaining ingredients, toss to mix and add chopped coriander
